Pivot bearing & base

Rendered green pivot bearing with machined bore

The brief

Produce 3D models, high-definition rendered images, and 2D detail drawings of a Pivot Bearing and a Pivot Base for inclusion in a company brochure.

What I did

Modelled the two separate components in 3D and applied the specified material properties—Cast Iron for the bearing and Cast Aluminium for the base.

Configured rendering environments for a 1280 x 720 px (HDTV) output, utilizing perspective views, ground reflections, active shadows, and targeted spotlighting on specific geometric features like the 44 mm recess and R17 hole.

Applied precise surface finishes to the models, contrasting polished internal bores and bosses against the rougher exterior cast materials.

Produced 2D detail drawings utilizing third-angle projection, which incorporated standard orthogonal views alongside true isometrics and the exported photorealistic renders.

Extracted key parametric properties directly from the 3D models—including material, density, and mass—and displayed them on the final drawing sheets.

Managed document control by finalizing the files in .dwg, .pdf, and .png formats and updating the company document register in accordance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
